This is a collection of songs that currently form my daughter's bedtime repertoire. They're a mixture of traditional songs and my own compositions.
'Glenlogie' has been a really effective song for settling Sorcha since she was tiny. Even when she was pre-lingual I always sensed that she was listening to the story being told and, allied to the repetition of melody and form, it always did the trick; granted sometimes I needed to sing it two or three times round.
Now that she's older she will request songs with this lot being the most popular. It's really nice to hear how she picks up these songs and sings snippets of them herself now.
I hope that other parents and wee ones will enjoy this collection too.

I've not had the mind lately to enjoy a lot of neo-classical as I have in the past. Much of it has felt too pretty, too sculpted, or too formulaic for my taste. Enter Steven Legget's Bathhouse to help me regain some feelings for the genre. Much like Sebastian Mullaert's 'Natthall' (2020), Bathhouse sidewinds through lush textural backdrops, melodies that hang suspended before your eyes, and unexpected moments of rhythm that feel very much a part of the landscape.
